Tooting Primary School – Curriculum Intent

Our aim at Tooting Primary School is to provide an excellent education for all our students; an education which brings out the best in all of them and prepares them for success in life. Our curriculum is designed to provide children with the core knowledge they need for success in education and later life, to maximise their cognitive development, to develop the whole person and the talents of the individual and to allow all children to become active, self-sufficient citizens. By drawing on the best that’s been thought, said and done in each subject, our curriculum at Tooting Primary School enables children to appreciate and participate in the full richness of the curriculum. Subject leaders work together to identify knowledge, thematic and skills based links between their disciplines and exploiting those through careful joint planning which will enable students to make connections that will help them to understand the world around them and their place in it.

Franciscan School – Curriculum Intent

At Franciscan Primary our curriculum is driven by our belief in ‘Achieving Excellence Together’

We have designed a spiral curriculum that is broad and balanced, providing children with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in all subject areas, and preparing them for adult life. At the heart of this, is the equality code, which is woven throughout our curriculum, supporting children to become exemplary members of the community. Here, we provide each learner with the opportunity to grow spiritually, morally, socially and culturally.

Our curriculum is diverse, and has been designed to ensure it is representative of our school context and community, preparing for life in modern Britain. Subjects are taught discretely and we are proud of the enrichment offer that supports this. We have worked hard to ensure that all children are provided with unique opportunities to bring our curriculum to life, and to foster their love of learning. The academic achievement, well-being and character development of our pupils is integral to our curriculum and we regularly review our provision to ensure that it is relevant, engaging and challenging for all.

At Franciscan, we pride ourselves in developing the whole child and preparing them for the next stage of their learning as well as being prepared for life in the twenty-first century. We want every pupil to achieve well, learn together, celebrate diversity and be globally aware.

Graveney School – Curriculum Intent

Vision and Purpose

We are a fiercely aspirational school. The opportunity to educate our young people is a very special privilege and it is one that we take extremely seriously. We believe that the best education is one that builds on the knowledge and discoveries made by those that have preceded us. By sharing that knowledge and those discoveries we will prepare our students to take their place as the next generation of adults, able to think about and address the global challenges that we face, armed with the evidence and equipped with the skills.

We believe that a successful environment for learning is one that both excites and inspires, as well as one that stimulates a real thirst for knowledge and a continual quest for self improvement. We value the learning that takes place not just within the classroom, but outside it as well. In this way we can be sure that our students will develop as happy, productive and successful young people with a clear sense of moral purpose.

We know that our job is to help our students to achieve outstanding academic success. We also understand that we must support them in making sense of the increasingly complex world that we live in today and teach them how they can improve it both for themselves and for future generations

The core beliefs underpinning Graveney’s curriculum intent are as follows:

  • Traditional values in a modern world
  • Universal high aspiration
  • A broad curriculum
  • An inclusive and student centred curriculum
  • Beyond the classroom

Graveney School Curriculum
We value the strong links we have built with our community and we listen to our community to make sure that what we do reflects the individual needs of all those that are a part of it. We continually adapt our provision to meet new or emerging needs and we deliver our curriculum taking account of the very best in current educational thinking.

We expect our staff and our students to strive for excellence in everything that they do and we all celebrate and share in each other’s successes. ‘Committed to Excellence’, a recent addition to our historic motto, embraces this core school principle.
